The Michael Showalter Showalter

The Michael Showalter Showalter is a one-on-one interview web series created by College Humor.com which stars of course, Michael Showalter. Each episode finds Showalter interviewing a variety of underground and up and coming comedians such as Zach Galifianakis, David Cross, and Michael Sera. Although I’ve seen Wet Hot American Summer, I didn’t know an incredible amount about Showalter before this show. Nonetheless, his distinct brand of off-beat humor and delivery comes across effortlessly in this series allowing the viewer to instantly understand what he’s about.

showalter One of the obvious trademarks of the show are the constant cuts to manufactured behind the scenes footage involving things like conversations about old debts and knock down drag out fights with guests about interview questions. One thing that truly speaks to Showalter’s skill as a comedian is the fact that in the hands of almost anyone else that kind of thing would appear considerably hacky. Further adding to it’s uniqueness, despite the show’s interview format they rarely if ever touch on anything of substance that you would find on even the most laid back of interview shows. Instead most episodes are more of an extended joke in and of themselves.

The Michael Showalter Showalter can be found through the College Humor YouTube page and on the official College Humor site.
