Some ambient kids screaming at the start. It’s a bit odd for a pop song but I suppose it fits with the song’s title. The hook comes in right at the start with an interesting keyboard patch. After two times around the rest of the band joins in on the same riff. They’ve got a very full and well rounded out sound. It has a heavy hipster kind of vibe but it’s very forgiveable. I don’t really detect any fakeness going on here. They seem to be pretty genuine.
They’re not wasting any time which is good. It’s got a very big sound when the rest of the band comes in. Very well produced from that standpoint. It has an upbeat vibe that isn’t overdoing it. I know full well what I’m getting into already and I like it.
The intro riff plays for a bit too long if I really want to be harsh about it, but I only notice it when I really listen for it. Right before the 1 minute mark the vocals hit and I’m hooked. Good timbre on the vocals with some basic effects it seems like. The singer has an interesting voice. A different synth sound comes in as the main bassline for the verse.
Verdict: I would happily listen to the rest of this song. It makes for a very well written pop song.
